"The Ramblers"  (to the tune of the Gambler by Kenny Rogers)

On a warm summer's evening
On a track laid in the 'Gar
We met up with the Ramblers
Our rivals from not far

It was the match of the year
As Gerry lost the toss
The Walnuts they were fielding
With pride, not fear of loss

Damian took a beauty
On the third ball of the game
The crowd let out a cheer
As they etched his rising name

Then came steady John
With his line and perfect length
The ball soared in the air
As Mark took it with calm strength

Andy struck with fire
As the batter missed his line
Then Liam followed after
With a wicket just as fine

We kept the pressure mounting
With tight lines and sharp play
But the Ramblers dug in deeply
And built their score that day

The chase began with fire
As the Walnuts took their stand
But wickets fell too quickly
Like dry leaves on the land

We swung and ran and battled
Till the final ball was done
But the target stayed just out of reach
Though hearts said we had won

And then we gathered in the Well
With stories, pints, and cheer
Both teams having a laugh
As the night drew in near

The scoreboard fades to memory
But the spirit still remains
For cricket’s more than just the runs
It’s friendship in the lanes

🎶 Chorus:
We are the Walnuts, bold and true
Purple, blue, white, black run through
Win or lose, we play with heart
From Terenure, we’ll never
