Rathgar Ramblers Away @ High School July 27th 2023

Walnuts Win under the Tree.

On a rare sunny evening the Walnut Taverners travelled to the leafy suburbs of Rathgar to take on the Rathgar Ramblers in the hallowed grounds of the High School.

Batting first the Ramblers put up a sizeable score of 135 but the Walnuts change bowlers prevented an even bigger total. Man of the Match, Andrew, took two key wickets to stem the tide of runs. The Ramblers MOTM, Garret also took two wickets ending with impressive figures of 2-14. Skipper Brian chipped in with a key wicket at the end and kept tidily behind the stumps throughout. 

In reply the Walnuts batted well with contributions throughout. Liam, Damian and the Ramblers' MOTM Garret all scored 20s but eventually we fell short by a mere 20 runs.

Afterwards we retired to the Dropping Well where we were treated to a veritable feast of hot food platters by our generous and sporting hosts. 
The match and evening overall were an absolute pleasure (despite the result) and we look forward to returning to Zion Road next season.
