Greystones @ Terenure College July 15th 2022

The Walnut Taverners romped to a comfortable 50 run win against Greystones CC on a beautiful summer evening in the college.

After winning the toss, Greystones inserted the Walnuts and the home side found the going easy despite some excellent early bowling. At first drop, Gerry saw off their opening attack and eased to a 20 not out. He was followed to the score by Josh and debutant Nippy, Gerry's younger brother. Nippy put together a man of the match performance with accomplished all round effort.

Some big hitting from Andrew pushed the Walnuts score to a formidable 131. 

In reply Greystones struggled to find any rhythm with the Walnuts producing tight accurate bowling. Every player contributed with Nippy claiming a debut scalp, Cyril adding to his victim column (and some crucial stops at short mid off), Colin claiming two catches and Phillip taking the catch of the season and indeed every other season.

Many thanks to Greystones for their sportsmanship, spirit and bonhomie. Special mention to two of their younger players Kadif and Finn , the latter proving to be a flawless wicketkeeper and the former excelling with bat and ball.

We look forward to our trip to Wicklow next season.
