Trip to Saint-Tropez 2017.

What can be said about St Tropez that has not been said. A jewel in the wonderful Cote d’Azur that bedazzles and explodes the senses. 19 Walnuts managed to make this trip and 19 Walnuts were bedazzled and had minds explode both on and off the pitch!   Hosted by the great St Tropez CC and Captained by Alan Halstead and ably supported by son Jack we were given the proper 5 star treatment. In the terrific setting of the Polo Grounds we played 2 matches against our hosts. The first game St Tropez put up 289 which was far too much of a chase for us eventually finishing all out at just 100. The second match was a little closer with St Tropez posting 163 but yet again we only managed 100. We have got to get over this 100 run barrier!!

Terrific times on and off the wicket. Great fun with great people in a great place. What more could you ask for. Well. Maybe a win at some stage!! We stayed in a fabulous hotel and got to see a lot of the area. Our transport were Planes, Boats and Automobiles (no trains). We were staying quite close to the famous Pampelonne beach and although not quite meeting Bardot there it still retains that 60’s feeling. We were dined royally by Alan and Co and there were many memorable moments. Eric’s knock in the first match and Frank's great 35 in the second game and not least of all Cyril’s amazing boundary at the death.

We partied like it was St. Tropez and the group of 19 finally made their way home over varying days pleasurably worn out.

The group who travelled were: Mowldsy, Henry, Liam, Tom D, Donners, Graham, Tom Markham, Frank, Gerry, Trevor, Sean, Ciaran, Tom Morrisey, Pat, Philip, Cyril, Joe, Bob, Eric.
