Walnuts Win under the Tree.
Firstly many thanks to the Evening Herald for an enjoyable game played in a very sporting spirit.
The Walnut Taverners used home advantage to claim our second win of the season. Bowling first, the Walnuts restricted their opponents to 112 with Philip's immaculately prepared crease giving equal encouragement to batters and bowlers alike, as the scoring proved.
Adam and Liam lead the way with precise opening spells while Tom chipped in with a man of the match performance of 1-3. One of the match highlights was Sean nonchalantly clasping a mistimed drive from the Herlad opener to give Colin his first wicket of the summer.
Chasing what was still a competitive score, the Walnuts got off to an ominous start losing two early wickets but a solid recovery followed by thumping batting from Gerry, Brian, Josh and Tom saw the home side ultimately cruise to victory. The middle order combined for no less than three 6s while Tom clubbed three successive 4s to retire on 23 and claim the man of the match.
Many thanks again to our visitors, the Evening Herald, and we look forward to our annual game under the Walnut tree again next summer.
