On a very warm summer evening the Walnut Taverners welcomed Ashford CC to the college.

Batting first the Walnuts posted an impressive total of 115-9 with 20s from Peadar (in great form all summer), Josh (a dominant innings of class), Frank (including a glorious back foot cover drive) and captain Brian (a cultured innings with shots both sides of the wicket).

Ashford were intent on victory and so it proved with opener Ro smashing two early 6s. Josh bowled very well, 2-14, Phillip was the pick of the Walnut bowlers, 2-10, while Sean and Eddie also claimed a wicket apiece. But it was not enough as Ashford romped to victory.

Many thanks to Ashford CC for making the trip to Dublin 6W from Co. Wicklow on a Friday evening and we look forward to our rematch in a few weeks in the elegant surroundings of Oak Hill.
