North vs South Showdown in Terenure: Malahide Triumph in Style

It was Southside vs Northside as Malahide made the trip south for a much-anticipated clash with the Walnut Taverners at Terenure College.

Batting first, the Walnuts found runs hard to come by against a disciplined Malahide bowling attack. A towering six from opener Pado gave the Walnuts a brief lift, while Damian (12), skipper Garret (20), and Jan (17) injected some late momentum into the innings. Despite their efforts, the final total of 75 felt a few runs short on a good batting surface.

In reply, Malahide’s batters were clinical. Their aggressive strokeplay quickly took the game away from the Walnuts, chasing down the target with 8 overs to spare. Jan impressed with two tight overs and a wicket, while Brian and Garret also claimed scalps, but the visitors' dominance with the bat proved decisive.

A massive thank you to Cyril for the now legendary beer van,  this week enhanced with iced caramel sweets  - the van is a most welcome addition in light of the Lakelands' renovations, Cyril and Liam for keeping everyone fuelled with pizza, and to Philip for preparing a beautifully curated pitch.

Congrats to Men of the Match Garret and Jan for their all-round contributions. We look forward to renewing the rivalry with Malahide in 2026 — both home and away!
