Another Memorable Act at Malahide Castle
 

Malahide Castle has hosted its fair share of legendary performances over the years — Radiohead and Neil Young in 2008, the legendary Prince in 2011, and Eoin Morgan’s epic century against Ireland in 2013.

In 2025, it witnessed another unforgettable showdown: Walnut Taverners vs. Malahide CC.

Batting first after winning the toss, the Walnuts posted a competitive 127. Liam and Jack scored elegant 20s, while Gerry took the attack to Malahide with a flurry of pulsating boundaries to set the scene. 

Colin and Pado added useful runs, helping the Walnuts find their rhythm with the bat.

In response, Malahide came out firing, finding the boundary regularly and chasing down the target with four overs to spare. That said, credit to Andrew, Sean, and Pado, who asked serious questions of the Malahide batters. Behind the stumps, Gerry pulled off two sharp catches—off Andrew and Sean respectively—to keep the pressure on.

Post-match, both teams enjoyed well-earned pizza, chips, and beers in the Malahide sunshine, with Gerry and Jack taking home MOTM honours. 

We look forward to hosting Malahide in Terenure later this summer—and, of course, our annual return to the north side in 2026.
