Slammers @ Terenure College , July 12th 2024

 

The Walnuts took advantage of home conditions to defeat the Slammers by 9 wickets and claim our 4th win of the season. 

The Walnuts were put into the field by Slammers skipper 'H' but the away team struggled to adapt to the pitch which offered low bounce and slow pace, under the watchful eye of Terenure College. 

Gourang spearheaded the attack and claimed two wickets in his spell (2-4) while Jan, Tom, Andrew all excelled with ball in hand as the Walnut bowlers delivered accurate line and length throughout the first 20 overs.

Some lofty hitting from Dave saw the Slammers end their innings on 75.

However, the Walnut batters wasted no time chasing the target with Brian, Liam and Gerry all hitting maximums as the Walnuts breezed home with 8 overs to spare. Slammers' Tim, Ross and George all bowled extremely well, with Tim picking up the sole Slammers wicket.

Afterwards man of the match awards went to Gourang and Slammers' Ross. 

Ross delivered an outstanding performance, bowling with precision and skill to contain the Walnut batting lineup. 

The Slammers offspinner has had an extensive time on the sidelines and it was wonderful to see him back in action and in full flight.

Huge gratitude as always to Phillip for his meticulous pitch preparation and to Eddie and Tom for the catering. 

It may have been a one-sided contest, but it was heartening to see all our Slammers friends yet again and we are already looking forward to meeting up in Railway in 2025.
