A depleted Dalkey Archives side were the visitors to Terenure College on another glorious summer evening.

Batting first, Dalkey found scoring difficult against a disciplined Walnuts bowling attack and some outstanding fielding. The visitors were restricted to 121, with Colin, Brian, Sean, Josh, Gourang and Mark all claiming wickets. Jan once again bowled with genuine pace and hostility, producing another superb spell.

In reply, the Walnuts made a steady start, with Pado and Gourang both reaching double figures before Graham and Player of the Match Josh played two classy innings in the twenties to put the chase firmly on track.

The game went right down to the final over, where Jan and Brian kept their composure under pressure. With just three balls remaining, Jan struck the winning runs to seal a memorable victory for the Walnuts.

A huge thank you to Jan for treating both teams to post-match pizza, while players from both sides enjoyed a few well-earned beers in the mellow evening sunshine.

Special thanks also to Brian for preparing another excellent wicket. We look forward to renewing the rivalry when we travel to Shanganagh for the return fixture at the end of August.
